Meet Recruiter: Jodi Anne Smart

In this series, our recruiters speak about all that it takes to be a part of Team HGS.

Tell us about your education and experience in recruiting.

I have an Associate Degree in General Studies and a Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management. Before working at HGS, I was employed to Xerox [Conduent] as a recruiting intern which pretty much gave me my break in Recruiting.

What are some must-have qualities you look for in candidates applying to HGS?

The most prominent qualities I look for are the willingness to learn and soft skills. Having the desire to learn will allow one to do well in any given situation and having excellent soft skills enables one to be able to communicate well with any individual while avoiding conflict.

What is a question you never miss asking candidates?

"What is excellent customer service? What is empathy?” While these may be simple questions, some people fail to understand what it means to give or get excellent customer service, and also, not everyone can show empathy.

What is your top tip for potential candidates?

Be honest in the interview and be yourself. Be calm, but do not get too comfortable.

What is something that you tell your candidates about HGS?

HGS is bursting with employee engagement! It has a cool and caring culture, which makes it a great place to work.
