Abhilash Raghavan is a deputy manager in the Training team, working out of Chennai. He has been with us for over ten years. He shares with us his experiences at HGS.
How long have you been with HGS?
A little over ten years now. Earlier in my career, I had moved around a bit trying to find the right fit based on compensation, opportunities for advancement and work-life balance. Then, I arrived at HGS. I’m thrilled to be a part of such a fast-growing organisation; when I had joined, the employee strength was around 7000, and now, it is over 44,000. I think this growth has brought plenty of opportunities, which are helping to enhance leadership skills and to learn new strategies. From personal experience, I would say HGS is a great place to start one’s career, mainly because we enable spontaneous learning.
How has your journey been?
Quite eventful. I started out in 2007 as a customer relationship office and worked in that role for almost 2.5 years. Later on, I took a deep interest in training. Over time, I picked up more significant responsibilities and currently, I manage training for our Chennai & Nagercoil centres. There are plenty of reasons to stay—the work environment is excellent, colleagues are supportive every step of the way, and we’re all learning something new every day.
What do you like the most about your role?
My job involves nurturing new talents, providing them with an adequate and systematic learning process, and charting a customised career path for them; all of which I am passionate about. HGS is one such organisation with an environment that enables individual learning curves to materialise into career advancement. So, in that way, I feel the organisation and I contribute to each other’s successes.
What are you known for at the office?
I am popular among the fresh hires as the face of HGS, because they all land in my training kitty after being offered. Within the training team, I am the go-to person for any information on food or cricket.
