Meet Trainer Peter

In this series, our trainers share insights on how employees grow with HGS.

HGS: Tell us about your education and experience.
Peter: I graduated with a computer technology degree, and I’m CompTIA Core Hardware-certified with 15 years of technology experience. Through the years, I have taken on many roles as a trainer, from mentoring to group training.

HGS: What’s a pro-tip you would share with those attending your training sessions?
Peter: These tips are some of the most-handed-out ones in my sessions:

  1. Stay focused on the task at hand until it becomes second nature to you.
  2. Pour your energy into the things you can do, and find different ways to approach difficulties.
  3. Be a part of the team, and support others when they struggle.

From what I’ve seen, the ones who really shine are those who raise the bar and then stand apart from it, showing their strength and drive to be seen.

The ones who really shine are those who raise the bar and then stand apart from it.

HGS: What about HGS do you share with your trainees?
Peter:
Some of the things I tell my new-hires is that HGS is at the frontier for opportunities. Your working style and how you integrate yourself into the culture will pave the way for your future success.

HGS: How do you make learning easy for New Hires?
Peter:
One of the ways that I make training easier to understand is through analogies. I try to bring human nature into the subject matter that I am teaching. It is easier to understand your job when you can see it from different perspectives.

I have noticed this has an impact on how quick my trainees grasp the material. Many times, I have been surprised with new techniques and adaptations, even as they have just been introduced on the production floor.

HGS: What are you known for among your trainees?
Peter:
They know me as the guy who gets work done, humanizes every interaction, and makes things enjoyable even when the going gets tough.

At HGS, learning and growth are fostered continually through several enab;ers in our work environment. We ensure that in our growth as an organization, all of our employees are taken along. Join us.
